The Le Mans endurance race, which has seen many victories over the years, celebrates its centenary this month. The world's oldest active endurance racing event crowns the furthest car covered in a 24-hour period each year, but a special moment occurred in Britain 70 years ago when Duncan Hamilton's victory gave the legendary Jaguar C-Type 1st, 2nd and 4th positions. To celebrate this iconic moment in British engineering, Henley-On-Thames watchmaker Bremont has released the new Jaguar C-Type for 2023. As part of its special collection, it inherited a series of Jaguar watches, as well as other famous British icons of the 20th century, such as the D-type and E-type.

Malcolm Sawyer's work is reflected in the design of the new C-Type, paying homage to the car's sleek and classic shape. First off, the new Bremont Jaguar C-Type is 43mm in diameter and has a monochrome aesthetic with Smith's-inspired sub-dials forming a reverse panda display. The white glossy numbers are reminiscent of vintage detailing on car dashboards. These dials feature a dual hole layout with a graduated scale at 3 o'clock providing a 30-minute totalizer and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock. Balancing these functions at 6 o'clock is the date function, complete with the Jaguar logo. Of course, the specialists at Bremont used the brand's patented Trip-Tick construction to create the stainless steel case.
